The Brachypelma genus has tarantulas that varies in size from 5" - 8" depending on the species. Also, each species from this genus have great contrasting colorations, behavior and size compare to other genus. However, most of the species from this genus are very slow growers. The average brachypelmas reach sexual maturity ten years in the wild and it takes 30-40 years for them to grow to full size (6"-8"). Also, like other slow growing species, once females become sexually mature they usually switch their molting cycle to every 2 years, instead of the usual annual molt.
